The Seshen commissioned us to create a lyric video for their single “Take It All Away”. From the beginning, we wanted to use all original, live action, footage and practical effects to create a dreamy, textural scape full of movement. We also knew that water was a strong thematic inspiration for the music on Cyan, their new album, and we wanted to blur the line between performance, camera movement and the natural world.
During preparations for principal photography, we experimented with a number of techniques to create the optical aberrations, flares and lens distortions you see in the video. None of these effects are computer-generated, which we think makes for a more immersive experience, especially when paired with Lalin’s captivating performance.
