CARA MÍA THEATRE

In many ways, the partnerships between The Understory and Cara Mía began nearly 15 years ago, when The Understory’s Fabián Aguirre joined the company as ensemble member and resident cinematographer. Since then, The Understory has produced short documentaries, fundraising films, and several full-length, multicamera, captures of Cara Mía’s stage productions.

Executive Artistic Director David Lozano is honored with one of six Dallas Observer 2014 Mastermind Awards for Excellence in the Arts and Culture. Trained in physical theatre, Lozano joined Cara Mía Theatre Co. in 2002 and has since focused on devising new works that are poetic and significant in both form and technique.  Cara Mía Theatre's resident artistic ensemble is 19 strong and continues to produce world-premieres of revered Mexican-American writers as well as original plays created in-house. Cara Mía Theatre celebrates it's 20th anniversary this year and  continues to be a cultural resource for the local community.
